RM of Buffalo’s story
The Rural Municipality of Buffalo No. 409 was incorporated as a rural municipality on December 13, 1909.
The town of Wilkie is surrounded by the RM, and the municipal office is located there. Several unincorporated hamlets also lie within its boundaries: Bush, Cloan, Phippen, Red Pheasant, Swarthmore and Thackeray.
Today the RM is governed by an elected council and an appointed administrator, who meet on the second Monday of every month.
